2004 March   "Concord - The time, The season"

This album is proof that the time, and even the season, is right for Concord Nkabinde. The musician, who is more commonly known as part of the session rhythm section featuring drummer Barry van Zyl, and himself on bass, has taken his courage and talent in hand and produced an easy listening debut. Whilst it’s difficult to categorize his sound, the mix of smooth jazz and traditional sounds seems to be his forte.
On “The time the season” Nkabinde demonstrates both his own talents as singer, songwriter and bassist, as well as his ability to draw in some real hitters on this album, including Gito Baloi, Rob Watson, Louis Mhlanga, Ernie Smith and Godfrey Mgcina. Judging from the requests we’ve had on my show for this album, I think 2004 looks set to be a good year for Concord.
